  • DO YOU NEED AN ANDROID ANTIVIRUS All

For years now the tech media has drilled into readers minds the importance of antivirus software, leading users to think to install some sort of security software is a good idea. But do you really need to install a resource and battery-hogging antivirus app on your phone that is going to plague you with irritating notifications?
In reality, android antivirus really does exist, and they are installed in the back-end of malicious apps you mostly install outside play store or from APK files received from other locations. To curb this Google has disabled the installation of apps from third-party locations by default (can be disabled in security settings) and for those that install from Play Store exclusively, Google will continuously scan for and remove malicious all from play store and your phone.
But for those who install from other locations but Play Store, An Antivirus is recommended. However, having an Antivirus or sticking to play store isn’t enough there are still steps you need to take to protect your device such as carefully checking any app requested permissions before agreeing to them.
Avoiding cloned apps and keeping Android up to date with all security patches. Unfortunately, it turns out OEMs are guilty of not sending a security update. You should also apply a healthy dose of common sense, just as wouldn’t click on an attachment in a dodgy email from a sender you don’t recognize on your PC, and we hope you would apply that same thinking to suspicious links sent in Gmail on your phone or via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
Finally, Android devices are very secure these days until you open up to the virus via applications. Its most recommended you stick to apps from play store which will, of course, keep you away from Antivirus software’s which negatively affect the performance and battery life of your phone. Supposing your Android phone or tablet does start acting oddly and you have reason to believe malware is at play a factory reset is all that’s required to get rid of it.
